Wrong, SDH:

there is a hierarchy. Here are the ranks.

More than 10 shows: Uncle John.

More than 25 shows: Terrapin.

More than 50 shows: Other One

More than 100 shows: Dark Star.

More than 250 shows: Get a life.

Right on, next to our names we should have little steal your face icons like star ratings for restaurants. As a joke the new people who never saw a show can be "space cadets" and have a "pending" show count before they can post. We won't let them in on the fact that there are no more shows. They will read though, oh yes, read they will.

Back to seriousness, which I despise, SDS is a great show opener no doubt. Gets things moving right out of the box. Great coming back from intermission for as well. Not a big purist song, I think, but I like it. I even listen to the studio version (GASP).

interesting ?. I agree # of shows counts. Why - I'm not sure. Maybe cause the boys were a live (+not studio) band?
Having seen over 100 (+<250 - but still have no life!) I'm in the rare camp that liked Shakedown when it came out. To me it kinda fit (u just got poke around) and I never heard it as "pop rock" or whatever that term was that "they" were giving to it.

Well like every thing, disco influence cannot be ignored. Look at Another Brick in the wall, same thing. Disco sucked and Punk supposedley killed it. I like the Ramones and some stuff but for the most part I don't think it was Punk that killed disco, although I am shore it stunted the growth of anything around it. Dancing was never my thing, a dead show is about the only place I would not be too annoyed with dudes dancing near me. Although there was this one fucking freak at a show in philly that was dancing a bit too much. I refrained from escorting him over the rail from the balcony in good faith as I don't think he realized how ridicules he looked. Plus after a while it was so funny I almost pissed my pants. We worked it later and have several spinner children together now.

Trying to follow a thread on this forum is like trying to merge a piss stream with your friends in the wind.

And exactly why would you try a merge a piss stream in the wind? If you want to satisfy your buddy why don't you just give him a reach around? Pole Smoker.

Shakedown is one of my favorite songs from the later period. So what if it sounds a bit discoesque? It's snappy, has a great hook, good lyrics, etc.
